ExpertBetUK is an editorially independent comparison and review service for UK-licensed sportsbooks. We test the sign-up offer, score the product, mystery-shop the customer service, and publish the result — including when the result is "don't bother".
Who we are
ExpertBetUK Editorial is a small team of UK-based writers, product analysts and data engineers based in London and Manchester. Between us we have more than two decades of professional experience covering regulated gambling, including time at national newspapers, sportsbook product teams and consumer protection charities. We launched ExpertBetUK in 2026 to build the kind of comparison site we wanted to read ourselves: one where the highest commercial bidder doesn't automatically end up at the top.
How we make money — and how we don't
ExpertBetUK is an affiliate publisher. When you click a link to a sportsbook on this site and choose to register, the operator may pay us a commission. This never affects the price you pay, the bonus you receive, or the rating we give that operator. We disclose every affiliate relationship in our footer and at the top of every brand list. Editorial decisions are made independently of commercial deals.
How we test sportsbooks
Every brand we cover is tested against a 28-point editorial framework that scores welcome offer value, ongoing promotions, market depth, live betting and cash-out, app stability, customer service response time, banking options, withdrawal speed, and the strength of the player-protection tools the operator makes available. We re-verify UKGC licences quarterly and re-score every brand at least annually, or sooner if the product changes materially.
What we won't do
- We do not list, link to or accept commercial relationships with unlicensed or offshore operators.
- We do not pretend that gambling is a reliable way to make money. It is entertainment that costs money, and we say so on every page.
- We do not target our marketing or content at anyone under 18, or at anyone who has self-excluded under GAMSTOP.
- We do not let commercial relationships override editorial judgment — if a brand stops protecting its customers, we delist them.
